The Apple iPhone is now in its 10th iteration, but the generational shift isn’t as pronounced as earlier.
Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been unveiled at a starting price of $649 and $769 in the US. These prices are for the 32GB base variants, since Apple has done away with the 16GB version of its iPhones. The new phones will be up for pre-orders from September 9 and will start selling on September 16 in the US. In a first, Apple has also announced the date of launch for India, which will be October 7.
Historically, iPhone prices in India have remained higher compare to USA or any other operator driven markets. Apple completely imports its devices in India and considering the taxation and duty structure, we can expect it to be higher in India.
The two new iPhones are unlikely to cost less than Rs 60,000 at the very least. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will take on the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and Note 7.
