Internet of Things is growing really fast. Estimates are,
that there will be around 25 billion connected things till 2020.
Amazon is currently working with smart companies to deliver
products at home using Internet of Things and other technologies
Amazon’s product Echo
was released in the US initially on June 23, 2015 followed by U.K on September
28, 2016 and release date of October
26, 2016 for Germany.
It basically is a 360 degree wireless speaker controlled by
voice assistant called Alexa.
This is a smart device which can also order products for
amazon prime customers and get it delivered at your doorstep without you having
to worry about it
There are various other devices being developed by different
kind of old players as well as start-ups.
A company called Netatmo has developed a Camera, this is a facial recognition camera which
can also act like a security device as well where it can recognize people’s
faces and learn names for the respective faces.
If there is some movement going on in front of the camera it
will send out a notification.
For an instance, a user of the device(living alone) got a
notification of some movement in the lawn area whereas there shouldn’t have
been any.
They checked the video and found a moth flying pass, which
was of course not a reson of worry, however they may have been terrified when
they first got a notification.
So, we can say there is still a lot of scope for improvement
in these intelligent technologies and products being evolved every day.
We are experiencing a world today where things can actually
do things.
Samsung on the other hand has also pledged to make all the
devices that will be interconnected with each other as well as internet within the
next 5 years
Now, the question that arises is, WHAT will be connected to WHAT.
